Open Question: How can I repair my credit rating?
Once upon a time I had credit cards with 4 different banks and an overdraft. After it all got a bit much, the overdraft and 1 credit card was consolidated into one amount called a Money Managed Loan.
2 of the others were sent to credit collection agencies. Blah blah long story short, about a year and half ago I paid off the managed loan and 2 of the credit cards and closed the accounts by offering them a lower amount but in one block payment.
The last credit card had about £4000 on it but the card has not been used for about 4 or 5 years now. I have not received any sort of correspondence from them at any of my current or previous addresses or workplaces in that time and I no longer have any of the details whereby I can call them and ask what is going on
am i wrong in thinking this debt is probably written off?
Other than that I have no outstanding credit anywhere. I have a PAYG mobile, no utility bills, no rent, and only an ATM card.
Basically if it wasnt for the fact that I am paying National Insurance and income tax through work, Im fairly sure I wouldnt exist!
How can I repair my credit rating when at the moment I cannot even open a bank account with a Solo card. It seems like I need to get credit to repair my rating, but I simply do not have the means to apply for credit anywhere – and when I do surely it affects my credit rating even more?
Open Question: Old Debt and Collections?
Uni-fund has filed a lawsuit against me for an old debt, there are 2 items. I know nothing of one debt. The other was something my ex-wife applied for while we were married. She will not pay for it. The debt I believe is past the Statue of Limitations, they are from ‘02. If I go from date of last payment and add 6yrs and 6months, it has past. It shows on my credit report as having activity about a year past what it should be. In that case, it is not.
I have to respond to the papers from the clerk. How should I respond? Is there any example letters that can help me? I was thinking of responding and asking for a copy of the original application with signatures on them. And a statement showing payment history. They have included exhibits showing where it was passed from one collection agency to another.
